Cisco and BT…Delivering Hosted Innovation

Today, Cisco and BT announced a groundbreaking global, hosted unified communications solution.  As the news release points out, there are lots of aspects of the deal to capture the imagination.

  • The industry trend… There’s no denying that hosted unified communications are hot.  In fact, Cisco predicts that one third of all unified communications will be sold as a hosted solution over the next three to five years.
  • An industry first… The BT hosted IPT service represents the world’s first global offering based on Cisco® Hosted Unified Communications services as the platform for collaborative voice communications.
  • Utility-based pricing model… An innovative utility-based, per-user pricing model allows companies that are tightly managing their capital expenditure to take a first step into converged communications.

But scratch beneath the surface and the deal gets even more interesting.  Nick Earle, SVP of Cisco’s European Services Organization, outlines five reasons he believes the Cisco-BT solution breaks new ground.
