Talk2Cisco Recap: The Transformation of Education
Labor Day is the unofficial end of summer in the U.S. and, in fact, this year, many school children put away their flip flops and swim suits a bit early as some districts welcomed students back in mid-August! So, with back-to-school on the mind, we sat down with Amy Christen, Vice President of Corporate Affairs at Cisco, for a live, social, chat about the evolving role of technology in education and the latest approaches to teaching and learning.
Highlights from the Talk2Cisco broadcast:
01:20 How technology is transforming the education landscape

It’s a Strange World: John Chambers addresses Union of Employers in Paris with Laurence Parisot
Our chairman and CEO John Chambers opened the annual Summer University of the French Enterprise Movement (MEDEF) via Cisco TelePresence today. He spoke with the présidente of MEDEF, Laurence Parisot, and provided his perspectives on why continues to be optimistic about the future, the global nature of our business and the impact that technology can have on business, jobs and healthcare. MEDEF stands for the ‘Mouvement des Entreprises de France’ representing the largest French employers and organises a yearly gathering that attracts over 7,000 French CEOs, media and business leaders over 3 days. The theme that Mme. Parisot introduced for this year’s event is the “Strangeness of the World”. Here she asks John for the basis of his optimism:
President Sarkozy and Cherie Blair have addressed the conference in previous years and this year, MEDEF will use Cisco TelePresence to connect with speakers in multiple locations including Dusseldorf, Riyadh and Beijing. Speaking this year alongside Chambers are Hari Bhartia, president of the Confederation of Indian Industry, Jacques Diouf, director general of UN Food and Agriculture Organiation, Tom Donohue, president of the US Chamber of Commerce, and Wan Yan, the founder of sina.com, a major Chinese Internet portal.
